Remarks: We are well into the inter tropical convergence zone, marked by a steady parade of squalls marching towards us for the last two days. Sometimes it will be clear for a whole watch, sometimes it will be rainy for most of the watch. We have been spoiled this passage with steady force 4 trade winds and sunny skies. It was about time to shake it up. The rain is actually a welcome relief from the hot tropical sun beating down onto the quarterdeck, often making it too hot to walk on at midday without doing a funny hopping dance. Although these squalls haven’t been terribly malicious as of yet, we have seen our speed go up to 10 knots and are generally making 6-8 knots. the ITCZ could be calms instead, but we’re bowling along.
