On the way into Gloucester today the Captain took the ship through several tackings. This was a great experience for the new trainees, the whole crew in fact, because it gives us all the opportunity to use all of the skills and knowledge we have acquired during the voyage. We are definitely seeing the signs of our moving ever steadily northwards. The nights are getting colder and the water we use for washing dishes is on the verge of numbing your fingers. Still, there were a billion stars to gaze upon last night and another beautiful sunrise this morning which certainly balances the scales.

The museum was fantastic! Inside they built a half size whaling ship with incredible attention to detail. All of the exhibits in fact were very well laid out, informative and interactive.
