Website difficulties

Greetings from Picton Castle’s office in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada.  It’s Thursday May 4th 2023.  All of the crew are fired up, getting the ship ready to sail.  We’re writing to let you know that we’re having some difficulties with our website, which is old and getting cranky.

We can update the Captain’s Log, but that’s the only section of the website we can currently update.  It looks like the Current Location page (https://www.picton-castle.com/voyages/current-location.html) is also still working, being automatically updated with the ship’s location every 12 hours from the YB Tracker we have on board (or will have on board when the ship sails, it’s currently sitting on my desk).

We have been working on building a new website for a while now, knowing that our current website had a limited amount of life left.  The new site is not quite ready to launch yet.  We will get it up and running as soon as we can, likely after Picton Castle sets sail from Lunenburg on her World Voyage.

As I sit here to write, the crew are taking a lunch break after a morning of bending sail and receiving our final delivery of food provisions.  The ship and her crew are getting close to being ready to set sail.  We have not yet set a sailing date, but we’re looking at next week.  Captain Moreland and the mates are studying the weather religiously, looking for a good window to head south.  We’ll share that date as soon as it is confirmed.

In the meantime, please keep an eye on the Captain’s Log as we’ll post all updates here as well as on our Facebook page (with occasional updates on Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn).
