It’s a beautiful trade-wind sailing day here off the coast of West Africa. Sparkling blue seas, a light haze softening the blue sky, and a pod of dolphin skipping and diving off the port quarter. After all the bustle and colour and noise of Senegal it is incredibly peaceful to be back at sea in our own little world. The only sounds are the water sloshing past the hull as she gently curtsies over the swell, the sails and rigging aloft creaking as they ease to their work and the watch quietly going about their day.
SHIP’S WORK: Greasing round aloft: blocks, halyard ties and runners and sheets, continue work on Monomoy oars, sent starboard main upper topsail footrope back up after overhauling, work on ratlines in headrig, set up guys for starboard boat davit, paint white on aloha deck bulwarks and red on liferings, clean and spot paint skiff, sailmaking and carpentry projects continue.
