Remarks: Noon brings out Jacob, Pearce, Ansleigh and Spring to shoot the sun. It is very high in the sky right now. This is due to the recent summer solstice and our proximity to the Tropic of Cancer where the sun reaches its maximum northern declination. Line and the 8-12 watch works in the hold to inventory baskets and hats and various other items purchased from the markets of Bali and Reunion. Dee works on the tabling of the inner jib. This sail was laid out in Tahiti and was hand stitched. Sara started roping the outer jib. The fore topmast stays’l is awaiting roping as well. These were both laid out in Cape Town and were machine sewn. We had the engine on for a bit this morning to push out of a calm but the wind filled in and we are back under full sail.
