Port anchor out with two shots of chain well in the water
Weather: 80°F, Squalls throughout the morning with strong easterly gusts. Clearing in the afternoon
Remarks: A strong squall passed over the bay before the off-watch went ashore. It was reported that the roof of the stadium in town was blown off during the gusts. The port anchor is holding well, however, and once the rain abated the port watch went ashore to enjoy the island. The skies cleared throughout the day and starboard watch was able to get some painting done on the quarterdeck rails that have been rust busted. The cowl vent on the foc’sle head was taken down for a good scrape and grinding. Clara and Amelia worked aloft to replace worn out gaskets for furling the sails. Liam and Ansleigh did some touch up ospho work on the topsides, getting her white and shiny. Today is the official start of the rainy season in the Caribbean and nominal hurricane season too. But of course, nature does not quite work that way. There is not a curtain drawn nor a switch thrown. They need the water here, no one needs hurricanes. Every sunny day we get won’t be taken for granted! And today is lovely.
