Remarks: Shut down the main engine at 0800. Hot and sunny Saturday with a modest force 3 wind drawing us along that is picking up gently into a nice sailing breeze. Saturday being a tradtional oiling and lubricating day in old windjammers, we have Alex and Andreas greasing the masts, Stan and Dan grease the zerk fittings on deck. These are little nipples that allow grease into a spot. And port hole and skylight hinges and the like. Diane and Rachael take a break from sailmaking to make a new set of head curtains, and condemn the head curtains to the rag bag. High time. For those who have missed out so far, the Captain and Rachel will be teaching sailmaking skills through the medium of making their own ditty bag. Danielle, Marie Helene, Stan and Mike are the ones.
