Remarks: We were accompanied by four brown noddies last night, small seabirds that probably came from Ascension Island over 150 miles away. Riki was awake all night watching and meowing at them and is now passed out in his favorite sleeping spot in the hold. We have five fishing lines out now, two on bamboo outriggers set up by Edmund, Olivier, Dustin and Donald. We are going five knots – perfect fishing speed. Dan is close to wrapping up repairs on the spanker gaff and Liam and Eric are working on rust busting and painting the hardware on it before it is sent up again. Clara did a nice workshop on toolmaking and the well deck is full of people cutting and shaping wood. We are using broken oars for mallet heads and old broomsticks for handles. For serving boards we are using one of the old oak hatch battens – very nice hardwood. Creativity flourishes on long passages. No internet. That’s nice.
