Picton Castle in Cape Town under Table Mountain

While we passed through three breakwaters wending our way in to get to this berth, this spot is, we are told, the original sea facing bulkhead/sea wall of the original built waters edge. All manner of interesting rocks, bricks and timbers in its make up.

In this image we see the “table cloth” spilling over Table Mountain looming over Cape Town. This cloud tumbling over the edge foretells strong winds from that direction soon. Very strong.

All is well with Picton Castle in Cape Town having come 23,000 nautical miles so far, as once well secured we make sails, overhaul standing rigging, rebuild a dory’s bottom, caulk and paint here and there, reprovision –  as well as get some good time off to see something of Africa.

An awesome port and an awesome land.

Literally.
