Canada’s border will open to fully vaccinated US citizens and permanent residents on August 9th.
This means that we can now accept students from the USA for Bosun School!
So, if you have not applied already, get your applications in straight away.
Bosun School is a marine skills enhancement program for aspiring mariners who already have some sailing or seagoing experience and seek to get hands-on training and practice in practical seamanship, boat handling and sailing techniques in both power and sail. Bosun School takes place in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Bosun School began last week with a cohort of Canadian students, so American students would be joining us partway through for the remainder and bulk of the program, which runs until September 29th. We already have a few students from the USA planning to join us on August 9th or shortly afterwards, so there will be some formal instruction to get you caught up on what you missed in the first few weeks.
Every accepted student is being provided with a full scholarship for this session of the Bosun School, thanks to some generous alumni and other funders who believe in the mission of the Bosun School. The scholarship covers the cost of food, accommodation, instruction and course materials. Students are responsible for their own travel to and from Bosun School in Lunenburg.
If you are a fully vaccinated American or if you are from Canada and would like to apply to be part of this second cohort of students starting August 9th or shortly after, please send us your resume that includes your ship/boat experience and a cover letter that tells us more about you, your experience on the water, and why you would like to attend Bosun School. Applications should be emailed to [email protected].
