Day’s Run – 2 April 2019

Day came in partly cloudy and clearing. Wind picked up a bit. A beautiful trade winds day. The new royal yard almost done. New pin rails of Fijian tamanu wood getting varnished and are very pretty. Piles of canvas on the quarterdeck getting sewn together by Tyler and Katie under John’s oversight. Brahm and Aaron do engineering stuff with Deyan in the engine room. Today’s workshop is on bending different types of sail.

Passage plan: Earlier I was planning on steering close to the eastern point of Brazil to catch the least amount of squally doldrums as we cross the Equator. Rethinking that with now with new forecasts that suggest crossing the equator around 25 West might be a better thing to do. We will see.
