Day’s Run – July 12, 2015

The beautiful sound of sailing is not something that should be taken for granted. Too often there are electronic or motor noises drowning out what we all want to here to experience. When you can look out from the quarterdeck, see no land in sight and hear nothing but the ship slicing through the water you know that you are somewhere amazing. Today the Captain held a workshop on how to do short and long splices. He went through a demonstration then gave us all time, with the AB’s and experienced crew helping among us, to figure out how to do the splices ourselves. Kind of makes a cool souvenir straight from the ship.

SHIP’S WORK: Second coat of paint on propane tanks; spot painted small boats; oiled engine controls and steering box; replaced inner jib sheet port side; end for ended inner jib sheet starboard side; made fore royal buntline lizards.
