Day’s Run – June 6, 2015

Emerging from a foggy early morning we once again find the temperature slowly creeping upwards. It is with pleasure that most of us have shed one layer of clothes though the foulies are not far out of reach. As the day progressed we set one sail after another until finally there were none left to unfurl. What a beautiful site she is – the Picton Castle under full sail! We are currently about 80 miles off the coast of Montauk, New York.
SHIP’S WORK: Today the main and fore royal halyards were both replaced. At 1630 we also completed our first heavy weather drill – one of the most important workshops that we will do aboard the ship. We learned how to set up the safety nets/lines that will make moving about the ship much safer under heavy weather. There is no better time to learn and practice what needs to be done then when the seas are relatively calm and thus so to is the crew.
