The wind is getting lighter as we get closer to the equator, but we’re still moving, if slowly. Going to need the studdingsails soon. There has been the occasional rain squall, but none with much bite and the short, sudden downpours are handy to catch buckets of free fresh water for rinsing laundry. Our Sunday afternoon party theme today was ‘South Atlantic Superheroes’ – much face paint, spandex, flapping capes and air guitar.
SHIPS WORK: Sunday at sea means no extra ship’s work on watch. Personal projects included laundry and mending clothes, deep cleaning bunks and sea chests, making and maintaining tools: knife sharpening, oiling fids and making serving board from scraps of hardwood. Norma and Emil were our galley team for the day, and made a great lasagna for supper.
